Your membership and contributions help us maintain our Web site produce maps and informational literature on area trails, perform trail maintenance projects and provide recreational outings for the community.

Future projects include creation of a series of geocaches along the trail from Highland Park to Hendricks, installation of information boxes at AHT trailheads. Replicas of former Western Maryland phone boxes, the info boxes will store maps and literature for trail users. Historic interpretation of the trail, originally part of the West Virginia Central & Pittsburgh Railway founded by Henry Gassaway Davis, is also planned.

Highlands Trail Foundation also supports the efforts of the Allegheny Highlands Trail Partners, a bi-state coalition of trail enthusiasts working to connect Allegheny Highlands Trails from Thomas, WV to Cumberland or Frostburg, Maryland.

All HTF members receive trail progress reports and notices of events and outings via email.
