Your
membership and contributions help us maintain our Web site produce maps and informational literature on area
trails, perform trail maintenance projects and provide recreational outings for the community.
Future projects include creation of a series of
geocaches along the trail from Highland Park to Hendricks, installation of information boxes at AHT trailheads. Replicas of former Western Maryland phone boxes, the info
boxes will store maps and literature for trail users. Historic interpretation of the trail, originally part of the West Virginia
Central & Pittsburgh Railway founded by Henry Gassaway Davis, is also planned.
Highlands Trail Foundation also supports the efforts of the Allegheny Highlands Trail Partners, a bi-state coalition of trail enthusiasts
working to connect Allegheny Highlands Trails from Thomas, WV to Cumberland or Frostburg, Maryland.
All HTF members receive trail progress reports and notices of events and outings via email.

The Highlands Trail Foundation meets the 4th
Friday in January, April, July and October. All meetings are held at 5:00 p.m. in the downstairs meeting
room at the Elkins-Randolph County Public Library. The annual membership meeting is held prior to the January board
meeting.
Members and friends are encouraged to attend.
